- Computer Aided Design. CAD systems create mathematical models based on user input. Individual models can then be combined as components of an assembly to create a whole product such as an aircraft or fax machine. Parasolid adds value by being able to model real life objects more accurately and more reliably that any other kernel.
- Computer Aided Engineering. CAE systems analyze designs created by CAD systems. This means analysis of characteristics such as: stress, thermodynamics, vibration, mechanisms, acoustics, aerodynamics and electromagnetism. A design is optimized by analyzing, making design changes and re-analyzing. Parasolid adds value by permitting the import of models from many Parasolid-based CAD systems and the interrogation of the geometry and topology.
- Computer Aided Manufacturing. CAM systems generate instructions for computer controlled machine tools to manufacture a design. CAM covers every type of machining process from simple turning on a lathe to 5 axis milling of complex surfaces. Parasolid adds value by permitting the import of models from many Parasolid-based CAD systems and the interrogation of the geometry and topology. CAM systems require very accurate models to work effectively so Parasolid is the ideal solution.
- Translators. Parasolid is extremely good at accepting data from other modeler formats. Its unique Tolerant Modeling functionality can accommodate and compensate for less accurate data.
- Architecture, Engineering and Construction. AEC covers all aspects of a building's design from the structure to water, heating and ventilation. As technologies converge, Parasolid has become an attractive option, giving interoperability with mechanical CAD/CAM/CAE systems and facilitating a "single model" approach to huge projects.
- Enterprise. Several Parasolid customers use commercial Parasolid-based CAD/CAM/CAE systems and then write their own Parasolid-powered applications, large and small, that automate parts of their process to reduce cost and time to market.
